Ficus Australis

The Ficus rubiginosa ‘Australis’, also known as the Australian fig tree, has its origin in eastern Australia. This plant species predominantly grows in the coastal area, where it is an important part of the local ecosystem. The species is characteristic of both the rainforest and drier forest landscapes.

Characteristic of the Ficus rubiginosa ‘Australis’ are the shiny green leaves, which have an oval shape. The plant bears figs that vary from green to purple when ripe. The tree can grow up to a size of 30 meters, but when kept as a houseplant, the growth generally remains limited to 1 to 2 meters.
