Eugenia Uniflora Etna Fire

Unlike the frost-sensitive wild cayenne cherry tree, this recent Italian variety forms an evergreen bush that does not exceed 2m (6ft 7in), and is hardy down to -7°C (19.4 °F). Of great decorative value, it develops a flamboyant ruby red foliage in spring, turning into a brilliant green in summer. It is adorned with small white flowers in summer, followed by decorative and edible red fruits. It will work wonders in a medium to tall hedge, and is well-suited for topiary. It should be cultivated in a large pot and stored indoors during winter in cold regions.
