About the sculpture
The “Balance of change” is a bronze sculpture on a handmade metal sphere. The famous Greek sculptress Aggelika Korovessi uses her own technique to make the sphere light, while balancing out the issues that arise from having a light mass to support a solid bronze sculpture. This way she has managed to achieve the impression of difficult yet absolute balance in her work
About the artist
Aggelika Korovessi is the only contemporary Greek artist who has done her retrospective exhibition in the National Archaeological Museum, Athens 2013 among antiquities.
The sculpture “Balance of change” by Aggelika Korovessi is from her collection of “Balancers”. Sculptures from this collection are in the Embassy of Chile, the Offices of Unesco, the Ministry of Culture in Taiwan, the Townhall of Stockholm and other famous private collections.
About the artist’s technique
Aggelika Korovessi’s sculpting technique in this collection resembles that of ancient Greek sculptors. By making disproportionately bigger limbs and the head smaller than normal, Korovessi annihilates her sculptures thus giving to the eye the impression of a bigger height than her sculpture actually has.
